Green Dog Training's 'Socialisation Sessions' are guided dog socialisation classes for specific breeds, currently - Sighthounds, Doodles, Dachshunds and Chihuahuas. Sessions are run by a qualified dog trainer with years of experience in canine behaviour modification at a professional level.
These sessions involve using science-based methods and techniques to promote controlled socialisation and neutrality in your dog, towards a range of stimuli, including new dogs and people.
- All classes will begin with a bonding walk together on leashes;
- Then we will have 'greetings time' where certain dogs may be chosen to demonstrate appropriate greeting behaviours, this will be guided and body language/canine communication narrated by Emily;
- We will move on to a short talk around the rules and regulations of the class, the basics of canine body language and developmental stages (as appropriate to the requirements of the dogs and humans attending the session);
- Finally, we will have off-leash play time! During this time the dogs can play freely in the safe, enclosed field, utilising the range of resources and equipment provided. Meanwhile, Emily will remain present during this time to answer questions, observe, keep everyone safe and point out any interesting canine behaviours so that you might learn a little something about how your dog communicates and feels in a range of situations! - This type of experience is a rarity; it's not often you have a canine professional with you whilst your dog makes some new friends for the first time!
